The reality is that obesity has more than doubled in young children and tripled in adolescents in the past 30 years. But why is this? The one thing that has changed in our diet over the last 30 years is how overly processed our food has become and how far we have deviated from nature. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports an increase in the number of children diagnosed with type 2 diabetes - most often obese children.
In his book Dr. Spock’s Baby and Child Care, Dr. Benjamin Spock wrote, “Children who grow up getting their nutrition from plant foods rather than meats … are less likely to develop weight problems, diabetes, high blood pressure, and some forms of cancer”.
The facts are plain and simple. You can either accept them and make a change, or ignore them and criticize me for being overly careful. I find more and more parents choose to criticize me because it is too much work to start making changes now that their children have developed addictions to foods.
Take the plunge. Do it for the kids. Peace.
