"Colon cancer kills more people than breast or prostate cancer and four times more people than AIDS. Over half of Americans have polyps in their colon."
"The intestinal system is not just a garbage pipe- it’s where nutrients are extracted from the food we eat and absorbed into our bloodstream via the liver. If we eat unhealthy processed cooked comfort food, it not only has little nutritional value, but it’s acidic to the body, so to protect itself, the body coats the food with mucus. This stuff lines our intestines and forms a hard mucoid plaque which prevents nutrition from getting into our body. We eat and eat, get fat and are still starving. (or skinny and not able to absorb nutrients). Parasites and bacteria start feasting on the accumulating garbage and slowly the body dies. This needs to stop. We need to clean out completely and start clean."
Here's how I work to keep my colon clean ...
Fibre. Good old fibre does a colon good! I like flaxseed and chia seed. My favourite way to keep the colon clean, however, is chia seed. In the videos above I show you how to make chia seed pudding. It tastes great, is very comforting and cleans the colon like you won't believe! Also, chia seeds are a better source of omega-3 fatty acids than flaxseeds (the fats that protect against inflammation and heart disease), Aztecs used chia to relieve joint pain and skin conditions, and they are a good source of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, copper, niacin and zinc!
Clean eating. Adhere to a high fruit and vegetable diet. Stop eating processed, cooked foods, meat, dairy, sugar, etc. - they are acid-forming (creates sticky mucus in intestines) and inevitably lead to constipation, disease and sickness.
Juice fasting. Try a raw food juice fast. Check out my older blogs and YouTube videos where I provide journals on my 3-day juice fast this past Spring. Juice fasting is nature's most powerful tool for healing the body and it gives the digestive system a much needed rest.
Enemas, colonics. Try a colonic or get into regular enemas. I don't really do this that often, but I'm pretty regular so I don't feel the need. I've been adhering to a high raw plant diet for over 17 years now and don't really feel the need to do enemas or colonics. But I have in the past in the early days of my raw food cleanse. People who are severely constipated may need the assistance of this form of colon cleansing as simply eating chia seed won't reverse the many years of eating poor processed food.
Lemon water. Upon rising, take a cup of clean water with a squeeze of fresh lemon. For many, this really gets the bowels moving.
Regular exercise. Exercising heals digestion FAST! Even if all you can do is walk, get moving now! Try to walk briskly for at least 45 minutes to an hour a day, outside in fresh air in sunlight if you can is much better than on a treadmill in the gym for countless reasons. Do whatever feels good to you - just move!
So, these are just a few ways to help keep the colon clean. Try a few to start out and then move towards trying them all! Once the colon becomes clean, it is amazing how you feel clean from the inside out on so many levels!
