Don't underestimate your kids - they'll amaze you!
Today I made an incredibly bitter green juice, made of: Dandelion, Swiss Chard, Celery, Apple, Broccoli, Lemon and Fennel. I had a bunch of vegetables that needed to be used up so I made a large jug full of green juice. I was worried that my kids would not drink it since it was so bitter. But to my surprise 3 out of 4 kids loved it (the fourth kid was too busy eating momma's raw vegan Walnut and Goji Berry Cookies).
One thing is for certain, when I make green juice I don't force my kids to drink it. I don't want to create aversions and I don't want to create a negative experience. My kids know that they can drink it if they choose to. When I made this tall jug of dark greens today, I said to my kids "Warning - this one's really bitter. You may not like it". I was prepared to store it away for my husband and I. Within seconds, they all came running shouting "GREEN JUICE!" I could barely stomach this juice, so I thought to myself "Are they really gonna drink this?" I was so doubtful I actually tried to convince them that they would not like it. The more I insisted that they would not like it, the more they wanted to try it. It was so odd. Even more odd was their response after trying it. To my delight and surprise, my 2 year old, 6 year old and 8 year old loved it. They each had a tall cup and made no complaints. It just goes to show, never underestimate your kids. You'll be amazed - as I was today.
Make a tall jug of greens today and share it with your kids. Peace.
