Let's talk about what nobody's talking about ... cleaning the colon!
Bowel movements are crucial to your health. If you don't have at least 1 bowel movement daily, you risk facing disease at some point down the road. When you consider all the refined sugar, white flour, and hormone/antibiotics-filled meats that make up the typical Western diet, it's no surprise that colon cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States and North America.
When there is improper elimination, mucoid plaque builds up along the colon wall, which may be very hazardous to your health. Also, when you take steps to begin the detoxification process, without first addressing a waste-filled bowel, the excreted toxins will only get recycled back into your body!
So, the toxins that build up over time must be removed, and it must begin with cleansing of the colon.
What can you do?
By transitioning to a diet rich in raw fruits and vegetables and very few cooked or processed foods, the digestive system is less burdened and free of mucoid plaque. Also, on a raw food diet one eventually enjoys regular and easy elimination, which prevents toxins from building up and foods are fully digested and utilized. This optimum nutrition allows rejuvenation and peak vitality. However, because it took years to back up your colon, getting yourself to that stage of health often takes patience and time.
The Mighty Flaxseed
Flaxseeds can be really helpful in cleansing the colon. They are really good at absorbing water and expanding in the colon, and then carrying toxins and mucus with them as they exit the colon. In addition, flaxseeds have been found to lower cholesterol levels. Adding 1 to 2 Tbsp of ground flaxseed daily to one's diet is benefitial and crucial. One way to do it is to consume 1 Tbsp of ground flaxseed in a cup of water upon rising (wait at least a 1/2 hour before eating breakfast) and then again before bed. Also, make sure to drink at least 8 cups of water every day to help with moving the flaxseed along.
If you don't already know, a colon hydrotherapy session (or a colonic) is a safe, effective method of removing waste from the large intestine without the use of drugs. You start by inserting a hygienic speculum in the rectum, then water flows into the colon via a small water tube and leaves the colon through an evacuation tube. The waste is then softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through natural peristalsis. This process is repeated a few times during a session. And, as many clinics provide personal rooms, your privacy is not compromised.
Further, you'll want to research and invest in a good probiotic supplement to help replenish the population of friendly bacteria which resides in your colon.
